We picked Chasm Lake because it’s a moderate hike with some solid elevation and challenging portions.  The hike delivered.  At 8 miles round trip it’s not too long to kill you but with Arnold (the drone) it was a nice challenge.  You start under the tree line in the beautiful forest before hiking above the tree line and at times on the edge of some steep cliffs.  We will need to do some climbing towards the end but it’s doable.

I would recommend getting up early to start the hike around sunrise.  That gave us enough time to hike up to the lake, get some shots, hide under a rock during a tiny hail storm then make it back down before any bad weather set in.  In the summertime, things can get dicey after 3 pm.
